- Penance Printable Cupcake Toppers or Stickers
I have two kiddos receiving their First Penance and First Communion this year! (Plus one receiving her Confirmation! It’s a busy year!) My 4th and 5th born were blessed to receive First Confession this past Saturday! It was a wonderful time! While Joshua (age 9) acted like an old pro and just walked into the confessional without looking back, Elizabeth (age 8) needed a lot of sweet-talking and hugs to calm her fears. But she came skipping out of the confessional with a grin on her face that just beamed and stretched from one ear to the other!! So for a special treat, I made white cupcakes with white icing to symbolize their clean souls! I added a topper to each cupcake like this: I just taped a toothpick to the back and stuck one into each cupcake. Here is a printable PDF for the toppers for anyone who would like them. (Photo paper works well) Download Here: Or you could make stickers for those kids who have just gone a Reconciliation! Stickers for the kids who have received Reconciliation could be nice for any age! Teachers could give them to the kids who choose to go to confession in the time allowed during school! Perhaps he could add a bit of “advertising” to the other kids who choose not to go?!?! 😉 Okay just for fun I had to add this: We all had a good laugh when Elizabeth added the “Clean Soul” sticker to my new white shoes! It was a fun wordplay; clean soul and clean sole ! 😀

- St Jane Frances de Chantal ~ Printable Children's Book - FREE Download
This printable book is a wonderful way to reinforce the virtue of “Love of Neighbor” to children. It is a short story and is illustrated with silhouette pictures. I’ve also added a few ideas for the kids to do to help others, as well as, a fun and simple art project. This book would also be perfect for “Little Flower” members when doing the virtue of “Love of Neighbor” St. Jane Frances de Chantal’s Feast day is Aug 12. (It was moved from Dec. 12) Download the Book Here Fun Art Ideas: After reading this printable book to your children/class, you may like to do these art projects: Draw a silhouette of yourself helping someone or entering Heaven’s shining light. Or Make a book of your own about a saint and illustrate it with silhouettes. Note: A silhouette is kinda like a person’s shadow. When drawing a silhouette draw just the outside edges of the person and fill it in with a dark gray/black color. You can also use black paper to cut out a silhouette. You can learn a lot about a person by just seeing their silhouette. Another fun idea: If you are doing this with a large group, secretly draw a silhouette of each child’s head. Have the child sit on a chair, using a bright light, cast their shadow onto a wall, and tape a large sheet of paper on the wall with the shadow. Then trace the shadow onto the paper. Have the group try to guess whose picture is whose by looking at the silhouettes. If you wish, the children can use the head silhouettes to draw a picture of them helping someone. They could also use it to write down a few ways they have helped or want to others.
- Our Lenten Prayer List ~ A Chain of People!
One of the things our family is doing this year for Lent is to pray for a person or group of people each day. Together we created the list and wrote the list down on a calendar so we could remember who we were praying for each day during Mass and/or our daily rosary. I used a pattern that I created to allow the kids to create images of the people they want to pray for. This was a great activity to keep them busy while I was teaching the bigger kids their school lessons! The kids had a lot of fun being creative when making the different people! They created all sorts of people from our prayer list including a firefighter, policeman, doctor, pregnant woman, farmer, a person who is sad and one who is poor, as well as a priest, the pope, and lots of other interesting people. I think I have “The Village People” hanging in my kitchen!! The kids had so much fun creating these and it really helps the younger kids to remember who we are praying for! If you want to create a prayer chain of people here are my patterns for the people: The People Patterns which are available include: Simple people patterns: Dress or Robe (no face) Dress or Robe (with face) Pants (no face) Pants (with face) Prefer smaller people? Mini Set – with faces Mini Set – without faces Other Patterns: Bishop Pope Angels (with faces) Angels (without faces) Download the Little People Patterns Here: Enjoy and God Bless! ~Jen-Marie
