St. Joan of Arc was a wonderful saint who fought for Jesus! She’s the Patroness of France. Read more here. Our Joan is wearing a knight’s top (which we used for St. Michael last year) and a blue skirt. She made her banner….
First we printed off a picture of Jesus and two angels. (Ones I found in a Google search.)
Then we cut a felt banner big enough to suit our Jesus and angel pictures. We used white glue to glue them onto the felt banner.
We painted glued to the back of the pictures. Then we laid them in place on the banner. Then we covered the front of the pictures with more white glue to make them stronger. It worked well! After the glue was dry (over night) we used gold fabric paint around the edge of the Jesus and Angels pictures to make them less likely to pull off the felt banner. We made sure the fabric paint covered both the edge of the picture and the felt. We used white fabric paint to write “Jhesus Maria” on the banner. (that French for Jesus and Mary) We than allowed this to dry. (about 4 hrs. or more)
We then used a red sharpie to make a border around the edge of the banner.
(I wish we would have used blue)
After finding a nice straight stick (you could buy one if you need or use a broom stick) we hot glued around it and folded the end of the banner over it. I made it so the stick was removable (for storage).
St. Joan of Arc, pray for us!~Jen-Marie
